Recommended books for SSC CGL
SSC
CGL is approaching and I receive several queries every day regarding
books for Tier 1 and Tier 2. Since it is not possible to answer every
single query, So I have decided to write a separate article for SSC CGL.
There are a number of books available in the market and it creates confusion, so I will recommend only those books which you cannot afford to miss. Since all the books recommended by me are useful for both Tier 1 and Tier 2, you don't need to purchase separate books .Go through following books, read them completely and practice a lot.
Reasoning: Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning

Reasoning: Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning
Quantitative aptitude: Fast Track Arithmetic
English: For English, you need more than one book.
1. For Vocabulary : Word Power Made Easy
2. For Grammar: High School English Grammar
3. For Practice: Objective General English
For those who can't afford more than one book, I will recommend buying Objective General English
General Awareness: Most
of the candidates worry about this section but I think this
section doesn't deserve too much attention as it is useful only in Tier
1. Besides no matter how much you prepare , you can't guarantee anything
as this section is very vast. Again you can easily answer 50% questions
without putting too many efforts. So I will recommend you to put most
of your efforts on English, Quant and reasoning as they are useful in
Tier 1 and Tier 2. But this doesn't mean leaving this section
altogether. So go through following:
- Static GK: Lucent General Knowledge
- Current Affairs: In SSC most of the questions are from static GK , so I will not recommend wasting too much time on current affairs. If you were already reading a newspaper daily, no need for anything.
